Celestia is so cool, I keep trying it every few years (I think it used to have another name). Unfortunately my 3D drivers have been screwed in Ubuntu Edgy so can’t run it properly… I can’t believe that image is an actual screenshot! Wouldn’t the most awesome tool (o.k. mostly toy) be if Celestia and Google Earth were combined!
Awww, that’s a shame. One day 3d drivers will just work in Linux, one day…
If there was a combined tool I think it’d be at least 70 tonnes of awesome (I wouldn’t put it past Google to eventually do such a thing, they’ve already done the moon)
Edgy is still screwy for me. The colour depth of the X server is all wrong on first startup… but if I kill X it’ll restart and everything is fine! Some other people upgrading from Dapper to Edgy got the same thing, but it hasn’t been fixed as far as I’m aware
Also, I was playing with Xgl and there is a STUPID bug where SHIFT-BACKSPACE kills X. This annoyed me no end so have gone back to regular ol’ xorg.

The thing is the drivers worked perfectly out of the box in Ubuntu Dapper! I’m just holding out for them working properly in the next release…
Yeah me too!
